The Annandale-Maple Lake- Howard Lake Wastewater Commission has taken another step forward in the formidable task of meeting stricter phosphorus limits put in p¡lace by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. On Thursday, March 21, at its most recent meeting, the commission approved a facility plan prepared by Bolton and Menk that outlines an estimated $12.5 million improvement project to the Albion Township plant needed to become compliant to the new limits by 2026. A public hearing will be held on the subject on Monday, April 22, at 6 p.m. at Maple Lake City Hall where Bolton and Menk representatives will present an overview of the proposed project, the costs associated with it and the proposed project schedule. The commission has been discussing the new limits for months. When the wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) was built in 2009 it was not designed to meet such low phosphorus limits and equipping it to do so is costly
