Duane R. Dykhuizen, 70, of Brooklyn Center passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Maple Grove. Private burial will be at a later date. Duane is survived by his wife, Donna; and son, Daniel; mother, Rosalie; brother, Raymond (Joyce) Dykhuizen; sisters, Joyce (Alfred) Rantasha and Rachel (Leo) Volkmann; brother-in-law Doug (Shirley) Jacobson, and sister-in-law Gretchen (Darryl) Braget. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews, and a large spiritual family. He was preceded in death by his father Gerrit. Duane was born Aug. 16, 1939, in Silver Creek Township near Maple Lake to Gerrit and Rosalie (Klemz) Dykhuizen. He graduated from Annandale High School in 1957, attended college in St. Cloud and graduated from the U of M in 1965. On Sept. 16, 1967, He married Donna Jacobson. Duane worked as a soil scientist for many years and drove for various transportation companies, assisting those with disabilities and special ed students in the Minneapolis area. In 1976 Duane symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God by water baptism, and was an active minister with the Maple Grove congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He looked forward to the promise of God’s Kingdom.
