Mary Ellen Blake

Mary Ellen Blake, age 93 of Maple Lake died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.     Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 4, 2009 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake. Fr. Michael Izen will officiate and burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Chatham Township. Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.     Mary Ellen Blake was born April 23, 1916 in Chatham Township to Timothy and Anna (Brun) Daily. She married Leander Blake on August 20, 1938 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake and he preceded her in death in 1998. Ellen cleaned numerous homes and businesses in the area. She was a member of the Maple Lake American Legion Auxiliary Post 131, St. Timothy Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women. Ellen enjoyed baking, quilting, playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also had a love for animals, especially cats and dogs. Ellen was a very giving person who always wanted to help others.     She is survived by her children & their spouses, Darlene Westrud of Maple Lake, Tim & Jackie Blake of Maple Lake, Diane & Steve Heinsch of New Hope; daughter in law, Mary Ann Blake of South St. Paul; sister in law, Erma Chevalier of Buffalo; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Donald and Tom; twin sister, Eileen; sisters, Katherine, Lorraine and Joyce Daily, Evelyn Hanson and Rosemary Edling; brothers, Timothy "Buddy", John, Maurice and Gordon Daily; and son in law, Harland Westrud.     Pallbearers will be Tim Blake, Jr., Jeff Westrud, Gary Dressel, Carrie Blake, Bob Blake and Heidi Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug and Brian Blake, Kim Zumbusch, Allyson Dressel, Lisa Teachout and Sarah Heinsch. Marge Pavlik, organist and the Resurrection Choir will provide the music for the service.
