Arnold M. Peterson

Arnold Melvin Peterson, 91, passed away at home on June 19, 2005.  Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 22, at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Nelson officiating. Military Honors were provided by the Cokato American Legion Post 209.  Survived by sisters, Ethel Finney of New Brighton and Lillian Holt of Big Fork, nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.  Preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant sister, Dorothy and brother Clifford.  Arnold Melvin Peterson was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Annandale, the son of John and Emma (Nystrom) Peterson. Arnold attended school for a short time at Birch Lake then the family moved to Big Fork, where he attended school and ran the steam boiler at the saw mill. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army serving his country until November of 1945. He drove for 2488 Truck Company, achieving the rank of Corporal T5. He married Florence Bodin Dec. 10, 1955, at the home of her brother, Roy, in Kerkhoven. Rev. Edstorm from Knapp church performed the ceremony. The couple moved to Arnolds’ home place where Arnold has lived since. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Grace Cemetery Board and the South Haven Legion Post. He enjoyed woodworking and working his farm.  Pallbearers: Elroy Anderson, Kevin Finney, Michael Holt, John H. Peterson, John Peterson and Karl Peterson.  Music: Barb Root.
