Alfred N. Johnson

Alfred Norman Johnson succumbed to long term illness of emphysema at home in Beaverton, Ore., on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004.  Services were held at St. Paul Lutheran at Castle Rock, Wash., Saturday, Sept. 25, and will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in French Lake Township on Friday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. Internment at French Lake.  He is survived by wife, Lois; children, Joel of Florida, Jamie and Troy of Castle Rock, Wash. and Melanie Souther of Beaverton, Ore.; two grandsons, (Thomas and Kyle Souther); sisters, Mrs. Russell (LeVina) Opsahl of Annandale, Mrs. LeRoy (Gladys) Hanson of South Haven, and Mrs. Darrell (Ruby) Wolff of Annandale; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents and Baby John.  Alfred Norman Johnson was the third of four children, and only son, to John Alfred Johnson and Amy Adeline (Lilga) Johnson. He was born in Parker’s Prairie and was raised on a farm. The family relocated to the Johnson Homestead in French Lake township in 1940. The family attended Grace Lutheran Church where he was confirmed in 1947. He attended Lee Country School and then later Annandale High School. As well as taking over the farm after his father died, he did carpentery work. He also worked in various manufacturing facilities and was a mechanic, plumber, electrician, painter or whatever else needed doing. Alfred married Lois Rebecca Feeder on June 30, 1972. Children included John, Joel, Jamie, Melanie and Troy. Hobbies were snowmobiling, fishing (summer and winter), and telling stories with a twinkle in his eye and getting louder with each laugh. The family moved to Castle Rock, Wash., in Oct. 1985 due to his health problems. They joined St. Paul Lutheran Church. Where he served on the church council and as treasurer.
