Mr. Hubert J. ‘Herb’ Goracke, 82, of Annandale died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at the Buffalo Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, April 12, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Father Harry Walsh officiating. Private family burial at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Prior Lake. Hubert Joseph ‘Herb’ Goracke was born Nov. 12, 1921, in St. Mary’s, Neb. to Lawrence and Frances (Schuster) Goracke. He moved to his family farm in Chokio, when he was a child. Herb married Eileen V. Riley Oct. 14, 1948, in Assumption Catholic Church, Morris. He worked for George T. Ryan Construction of Bloomington and retired in 1977. He lived in Prior Lake and Watkins before moving to Annandale in 1992. Herb was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale, the Annandale Senior Citizens Club, and a former member of Local 49. Herb loved his family, gardening, bird watching, fishing, cards, and making his grandchildren smile. Herb is survived by his wife, Eileen of Annandale; sons, Jerry (Carol) of Prior Lake, Dick (Nila) of Prior Lake, Joe (Cathy) of Prior Lake, Hubie (Mary) of Orlando, Fla., Mark (Randi) of Prior Lake, Alan (Pam) of Blaine; daughter, Ann (Mark) Monnens of Prior Lake; son-in-law, Lew Heckel of Inver Grove Heights; 19 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Coleen Heckel, Kathy Luthy, and Maureen Goracke; brothers, Christopher and Julian; three grandchildren; sons-in-law, Lynn Luthy and David Strom.
