Allen grew up on the family farm in rural Fairhaven. He attended school in Kimball, graduating with the Class of 1953. Allen honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1954-1956. Upon his military discharge, Allen returned to the farm. On March 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Blanche Vannurden at the Church of Christ in Kimball. They made their home on the farm, along with their four children. Allen and Blanche centered their life around their faith and their family. His lifelong passion for farming and being a provider was evident in his daily actions and all of his relationships. Early on Allen developed a love for airplanes, and for several years enjoyed recreational flying as a pilot of his own small plane. In later years, when Allen was not farming, he would often be found working in his wood shop. His work ethic and persistence helped him battle Parkinson’s Disease for over 20 years. Allen is survived by his children, Jamie of Fairhaven, Jack (Lori) of Fairhaven, Pam (Pat) Ridpath of Waite Park, and Rob (Stephanie) of Savage; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Blanche; parents; and sister, Ardyce Alman. Jon Miller, Jordan Miller, Jeffrey Miller, Logan Ridpath, Landon Ridpath, Austin Miller, and Jacob Miller will serve as casket bearers. Riley Fournier will provide music for the service.
