Mildred Helena Wurm was born Feb. 19, 1924, at home on the family farm near Maple Lake, Minnesota to Tony and Anne (Paumen) Wurm. She grew up on the farm and attended school at District No. 98 in Corinna Township. On May 18, 1943, Millie was united in marriage to Harold W. Dircks at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. After their marriage, they made their home on a farm, where they also raised their five sons. In 1968, they moved to Annandale. In addition to providing a loving home for their family, Millie also worked at Marv’s Red Owl. In August 2002, Millie and Harold returned to Maple Lake to make their home at the Manor. After Harold’s death, Millie continued to make her home in Maple Lake, until entering the Annandale Care Center a number of years ago. Millie was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, as well as a previous member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. In her younger years, Millie enjoyed bowling league, playing bingo and cards, puzzles, and embroidery. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed baking pies for family gatherings. As a team, Harold would create wooden keepsakes and Millie would paint them. They also traveled the world extensively, being sure to bring back a spoon to add to their collection. They were blessed to have celebrated 60 years of marriage. Above all, Millie cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. She is survived by her sons, Jim (Janice) of Plymouth, Ron (Linda) of Annandale, Dennis (Jeannine) of Annandale, and Kevin (Cindy) of Annandale; daughter-in-law, Joan of Minneapolis; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert “Bob” (Mary) Wurm of Maple Lake; sister-in-law, Marie Wurm of Buffalo; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
