Michael Joseph Earley, age 74, of South Haven, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at Mille Lacs Health Systems in Onamia. Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Annandale. Memorials are preferred to your local dog rescue or food shelf. Michael Joseph Earley was born May 14, 1948, in Pittston, Pennsylvania to William and Grace (Alpaugh) Earley. Mike grew up in Delaware, along with his three siblings. In 1966, he graduated from high school in Newark, Delaware. Mike honorably served his country in the United State Army during the Vietnam War. He then furthered his education at DeVry University in Illinois, obtaining his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. On Aug. 27, 1988, he was united in marriage to Shirley Mares in Aiken, South Carolina. He worked for AIC in Minneapolis, as well as Lawson Software in St. Paul as a database administrator. Mike volunteered at the Annandale Food Shelf in many capacities and volunteered for dog rescue transports. He loved dogs and will be missed by his beloved golden retriever, Gretta. He enjoyed woodworking, building many useful items for friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mares of South Haven; children, Ken Earley of Lake Elmo, Minnesota and Susan (Roger) Minor of Falling Water, West Virginia; seven grandchildren; siblings, William (Terri) Earley of Wilmington, Delaware and Ellen (Bruce) Donohoe of West Chester, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Shelley Hinton; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
