Mary E. Schultz, age 94, of South Haven died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022 at Quiet Oaks Hospice House. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 29 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Alex Becker officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Visitation was held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Mary Elaine Harper was born Nov. 10, 1928 in Carlton, Minnesota to Harlan and Ruth (Strand) Harper. She graduated from Carlton High School and earned a degree in education from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. She married Edward A. Schultz on July 5, 1952 in Carlton. They purchased a farm in Southside Township in 1955 where they farmed, raised their family and lived for the rest of their lives. For many years Mary taught both English and choir in Annandale Public Schools. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed leadership roles in choir and Sunday School. Mary and Eddie traveled extensively with friends and family and made many new friends along the way. Mary enjoyed game nights with friends and was an avid reader. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by children and their spouses, Marilyn and James Hallstrom of South Haven, David and Catherine Schultz of Bemidji; five grandchildren, Meggan (John) Caird, Jessica (Jerry) Jarvis, Mitchell (Janell) Jordan, Mackenzie Schultz, and Nicholas Schultz; step-grandson, Kyle (Elyse) Hallstrom; great-grandchildren, Emma, Jaxon, Tristan, Charlotte, Lillian, and Lawson; and step-great-grandchildren, Fitz, Daria, and Roscoe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie, in 2005; brother, William Harper; and nephew, Steven Harper. The casket bearers were Mitch Jordan, Nick Schultz, John Caird, Jerry Jarvis, Kyle Hallstrom, Glen Schultz and Barry Schultz. Arrangements were entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
