William John Hadler, lovingly known as Bill, was born on April 30, 1938, in Minot, ND to Herschel and Dora (Blocher) Hadler. He graduated from Surrey High School and continued his education at Minot State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Arts. On July 14, 1963, he was united in marraige to Marjetta Rose Cella Mastvelten at First Lutheran Church in Bottineau, North Dakota. They lived in Willow City for a short time prior to moving to Denton, Montana in 1964. They moved their family to Erskine, Minnesota in 1967 where Bill farmed near Red Lake Falls and Marjetta taught music and home economics. In 1986, Bill became Polk County Agricultural Inspector, retiring in 2003. In 2021, they moved to Annandale.
Throughout his life, Bill found happiness in creating and listening to music, photography, and woodworking. His hands were skilled in welding, and he had a knack for mastering the art of craftsmanship. The hum of airplanes and the revving of engines held a special place in his heart, reflecting his passion for all things automotive. Bill’s selflessness will continue to live on through the lives of his grandchildren, who he loved an immeasurable amount.
A proud member of Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine, Bill and Marjetta held firm to their faith and found solace in the bonds of their community. His memory will forever be treasured.
He is survived by his two children, Laurel Crews of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and David (Suzanne) Hadler of Annandale; five grandchildren, Brooke (Josh) Kysely, Trevor Lee (Hanna), Chloe Crews, Calli Hadler, and Alyssa Hadler; and sisters and brothers, Marvel (Jerry) Hughes of Bellevue, Nebraska, Audrey (Doug) Ackley of Baldwin, Wisconsin, Edith Wurgler of Rugby, North Dakota, George (JoAnn) Hadler of Troy, Montana, and Russell (Bonnie) Hadler of Norwich, North Dakota.
