
Sandy J. McDonald, age 84, of Annandale, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, at Quiet Oaks Hospice House, near St. Cloud.
Private Graveside Services will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, near Little Falls with Rev. Culynn Curtis officiating.
Sandra Joanne Wallace was born June 29, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Gordon and Eleanore (Berry) Wallace. She grew up in the Metro, along with her brother, Gary. Sandy was a 1958 graduate of Hopkins High School. She married Wayne A. Chevalier and they had two children, Jackie and Paul. They made their home in Twin Cities metro, prior to his death in 1973. Sandy began an extensive career in banking, first for First National Bank in Minneapolis, prior to joining Park National Bank in St. Louis Park. On June 19, 1987, Sandy was united in marriage to Donald J. McDonald in Golden Valley. Sandy continued her banking career having worked for various banks in the central Minnesota area. Sandy and Don lived in the Duelm area, prior to moving to Annandale in 2004.
Sandy embraced life’s adventures, joyously traveling with her beloved husband, Don. She had an unwavering spirit and commitment to doing things on her own terms. Sandy’s faith was strong, and she actively participated in Christian Women, Bible study sessions, and proudly called Holy Cross in Maple Lake her church home. Sandy was committed to helping others, through both Al-Anon and as she generously volunteered her time at the Annandale Care Center.
She is survived by her children, Jackie (David) Gonyea and Paul (Sandie) Chevalier, both of Minnetonka; grandchildren, Dayton, Dani, Cassi, Ben, Nick, Thomas, and Sam; stepchildren, Eileen Roloff of Spokane, Lynn (Damon) Peterson of Blaine, Jon (Sandy) McDonald of Hovland, and Jim (Becky) McDonald of Bloomington; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Eleanore Wallace; husbands, Donald and Wayne; and brother, Gary Wallace.
