Workers from JR Stelzer of Lincoln, Nebraska began working on Annandale’s 15-story water tower last week. The company was chosen among nine bidders for the reconditioning project, with bids ranging from Stelzer’s low bid of $541,775 to one more than $1 million. The restoration includes work inside and out of the tower, including sandblasting and reconditioning all tower surfaces. New outlets, inlets and fittings, and many other updates will be made, including safety updates, a new tank mixer and more. The logo will get new lettering. The tower was completely covered earlier this week. The project is funded by the State of Minnesota and the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. It is being financed by the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority. The outside of the tower was cleaned in November of 2005. The logo was added in September of 2013. The water tower was built in the mid-1990s to replace one that was located downtown.
