Marlene Zelda Peterson, 63, passed from this life on Monday, December 30, 2002 at her home in Kingston Township.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 2, 2003 at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Kingston. Interment was at the church cemetery. Pastor Orvil Wirkkala officiated the service.
Survived by her children, Vicki Hokkala of South Haven, Bob and his wife Angela Hille of Zimmerman and Scott and his wife Mary of Sauk Rapids, six grandchildren and sisters Mavis and her husband Jim Hillyard of Burnsville and Thelma McKenzie of Hermosa, S.D.
Preceded in death by her husband Charles “Pete” in 1996, her parents, sisters Betty Emerson and Joyce Pick and brother Melvin Stein.
Marlene was born on Nov. 23, 1939, the daughter of Walfred and Viola (Isaacson) Stein at Kingston. She was baptized and later confirmed at the Apostolic Lutheran Church of Kingston. She graduated from Kimball High School. On Sept. 15, 1973 she married Charles “Pete” Peterson at Fair Haven. The resided in Fair Haven and later in the Kingston area. She enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles and having family, relatives and friends over for a game of Scrabble. She had worked as a cook at Mom’s Restaurant in South Haven for many years.
Casket bearers: Lincoln Zahler, Jason Marquette, Steve Edwards, Todd Schaff, Rick Stein, Glen Marquette, Kerry Wanhala, Bill Wanhala and Will Wanhala.
