Annandale’s Fourth of July Celebration starts Friday, June 28, and continues through Sunday, July 7. There will be a carnival, activities, parade, coronation, food, fun and games. Discount carnival ride tickets are available at several local chamber businesses.
Friday, June 28
– Fourth of July Gala, 6:30 p.m. at Reichel’s Event Center. Tickets are $22.50 per person. Call 274-5313. This is an evening of great dining and entertainment. Fourth of July candidates will be here as well as the reigning royalty.
Wednesday, July 3
– Carnival opens at 6 p.m. near the municipal park on Oak Avenue.
– At 7 p.m. the Annandale Community Band will perform at the park pavilion.
– A boat parade on Pleasant Lake will immediately follow the community band concert.
Thursday, July 4
– The Fourth of July Parade begins at 10 a.m. The parade will feature several bands from the surrounding areas, including performances by the Annandale High School and middle school bands.
– The carnival will open immediately after the parade.
– Bingo in the Municipal Park pavilion from noon until 8 p.m., sponsored by the Heart of the Lakes Women of Today.
– Musical entertainment in the Municipal Park will precede the queen coronation.
– Queen Coronation will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the Municipal Park.
– Finally, a spectacular fireworks display starts at dark in the Municipal Park.
– Minnesota Pioneer Park will hold its 1890s Forth of July Celebration from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Lots of activities for adults and children. See how pioneers celebrated the Fourth of July. Enjoy a self-guided tour. Admission is free. There is a charge for concessions. Buffalo burger meals for adults and hot dog meals for kids will be available.
Friday, July 5
– The carnival opens at 1 p.m.
– The softball tournament starts at 7 p.m.
– The band “Country Junction” will perform a free concert from 7 to 10 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the new Annandale library.
Saturday, July 6
– The annual Kiddie Parade sponsored by the Heart of the Lakes Women of Today will be held at 10 a.m. The parade starts at Annandale Middle School. This year’s theme is “Be Your Hero.” Registration is at 9:30 a.m.
– Turtle races, also sponsored by the Women of Today, will be held following the parade at the city hall campus parking lot.
– A book event to raise money for the Annandale Public Library will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library. There will readings, a new and used book sale, live music, juggling, story time with Annandale royalty and more.
– The carnival will open at noon.
– The softball tournament will continue from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
– A pork chop dinner will be served from 4:30 until 8 p.m. at the park pavilion.
– At 7:30 p.m. the Great River Educational Arts Theatre will perform “The Music Man,” in the city hall parking lot in downtown Annandale. This is a free show. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy this classic.
Sunday, July 7
– The carnival opens at noon.
– The softball tournament continues at 8 a.m. and concludes with the championship game played at approximately 5 p.m.
