■ Annandale Elementary School is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair at Bendix Media Center during parent-teacher conferences week, Monday through Thursday, Nov. 3 to 6. Hours are 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Proceeds go toward book and materials purchases.

■ Tuesday, Nov. 4 was Election Day. Polls were open until 8 p.m.

■ A special presentation at Minnesota Pioneer Park’s monthly potluck was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The presentation by Blaine Barkley will focus on how the Soo Line depot was moved from downtown Annandale to the park. Barkley will show a DVD made from actual film that recorded the entire move. Guests are always welcome at the park’s potlucks, held the first Tuesday of every month. Bring a dish to pass or a dessert. Ask about a discount offer available for 2015 first-time members.

■ The Annandale High School bands were scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the Performing Arts Center of the high school.

■ A dinner to benefit the Maple Lake post prom party will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at The V by HH in Maple Lake. Harney will do all the cooking, but service will be by the post prom volunteers. Adult and kids meals available. All proceeds benefit the post prom event.

■ The November meeting and luncheon of the Annandale Improvement Club will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Reichel’s Event Center. Deborah Day Laxson is the author of the book "The Gray Zone" and will speak on the power of a well-communicated health care directive, how to prepare the health care agent for their role and navigating "the gray zone." The monthly donation will be to the Children’s Grief Connection. The public is welcome. There is a charge for the luncheon and reservations are required. RSVP to Ardis at 274-5339 by noon on Monday, Nov. 3.

■ All are welcome to the Kiwanis Community Social from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Southbrook Golf Club. Learn about how the club supports Annandale youth while enjoying wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres.

■ Lake Union Covenant Church will host its Blaze Orange Harvest Festival at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6. Special music by the Dave and Kay Jorgensen family, with refreshments following the concert. Lake Union Church is located at 74526 CSAH 19, rural South Haven.

■ The Annandale Middle School bands will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, in the Performing Arts Center of the high school. The community is invited to this free concert.

■ Firearms deer hunting season opens Saturday, Nov. 8.

■ A fall craft sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Maple Lake Elementary gym. Lunch served.

■ The second annual Women’s Hunting Extravaganza will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Reichel’s Catering and Event Center. There is no cost for the event, but opportunities for holiday shopping will be available along with lunch, a cash bar and door prizes.

■ St. Jame’s Social Ministry invites the community to a spaghetti dinner and bake sale fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, at the St. James Fellowship Hall, 1000 7th Ave. in Howard Lake. All proceeds from free will offerings and bake sale will benefit the Christmas Benevolence Program, which helps neighbors through difficult times. Your support is appreciated.

■ Veterans Day is Tuesday, Nov. 11. A 2 p.m. program will be held at Annandale Middle School. Annandale alumni Emily Powell will be the speaker. Additional programs will be held at the Maple Lake High School auditorium at 10:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. for elementary students. The guest speaker will be Col. Scott St. Sauver, post commander of Camp Ripley. The public is welcome to attend. A free lunch will be served for Veterans at the V by H&H restaurant following the morning program. The Maple Lake programs are sponsored by Maple Lake Senior Connections and the Lions.

­■ If you or anyone you know is 60 or under and has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, you are welcome to join a group meeting the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Saron Lutheran Church in Big Lake. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 11. Specific topics are scheduled along with an open forum. Caregivers welcome. No children please. ■ The Adoption Support Group will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Monticello Community Center. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month. ■ American Legion Post 131 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the post in Maple Lake. The auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, and the Sons of Legion group will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. New members are welcome.

■ Help provide a memorable, safe and worry-free night for Annandale High School seniors on graduation night. The next meeting of the Annandale All-Night Graduation Party is Wednesday, Nov. 12. ■ The Wellness on Wheels van will be at the Marketplace in Annandale from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13. ■ Enjoy a Junior Naturalist Beaver Hike at Lake Maria State Park from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15. Find out where beaver live at Lake Maria. ■ A grief support meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, at St Ignatius Catholic Church. This is the third in a series of grief support meetings held this fall in collaboration with Love INC Big Woods. A video presentation and discussion will address grief surrounding the upcoming holidays. The meeting is ecumenical, and all in the Annandale and surrounding communities who may have experienced the loss of a love one are invited.
