Kenneth Gruys and Julie Elmen of St. Louis, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter Kjerstin Elmen-Gruys to Michael Ackermann, son of Douglas and Sherry Ackermann of Louisville, Ky.
Arnold and Ruth Gruys of Annandale are the bride-to-be’s paternal grandparents.
Kjerstin graduated from Princeton University in 2004 and is a PhD student in sociology at UCLA. Michael graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2004, Case Western Reserve University in 2010, and is a postdoctoral fellow in biomedical engineering at Standford University.
An October 1 wedding will take place at the Thomas Fogerty Winery & Vineyards in Woodside, Calif.
