Veterans eligible for disaster relief

Governor Mark Dayton recently declared a state of emergency in Minnesota due to flooding and other weather-related problems, and Wright County was recently added to a list of counties eligible for disaster relief grants through the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.

Veterans, their families and surviving spouses may be eligible for a disaster relief grant of up to $1,000 if they have not received other state or federal assistance. Original receipts for expenditures must be dated no earlier than June 11, and no later than Aug. 31, 2014.

To apply, or for more information, veterans and their family members can contact the Wright County Veterans Service Office by phone at 763-682-7325 or by mail at 10 2nd Street NW, Room C-114 in Buffalo, 55313.
