Several downtown businesses and city hall were out of water service on Monday, March 24, after a watermain broke beneath the parking lot in front of city hall at about 9:30 a.m. Public Works Director Joe Haller said the ground is shifting in response to warmer temperatures, putting a strain on infrastructure. This is the second watermain to break this winter. The first break occurred on Lake Drive in December. Here, Ron Mares operates the excavator while city worker Mark Logeais watches for a storm sewer line above the watermain.
