On an average Monday in March, the Annandale Speech team stood in a line in the middle of the AHS Commons. For an average Monday, the Speech team looked oddly out of place. Rather than their everyday school clothes, the team was dressed as though they were ready to compete in a high stakes meet. But it was a Monday. Not only were they dressed for success, they stood in line practicing their most intense, most “go ahead and mess with me” look. Head Speech coach Jennifer Kulm and assistant coaches Todd Nelsen and Wendy Storkamp could not help but smile. Sometimes you can’t plan for moments like these. Zahler Photography was front and center capturing the fierce looks. It had occurred to the coaches that many other teams from the school captured the grit and determination of the team on a banner to be posted for spectators and other teams to see. The obvious look of “yes we can.” And why not the Speech team?
