A special Primary Election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, for the Minnesota Senate District 29 – which became necessary following the recent death of Sen. Bruce Anderson, R-Buffalo.
Three Republicans and one Democrat are on the ballot. Republicans are Rachel Davis of Waverly, Michael Holmstrom Jr. of Monticello, and Bradley Kurtz (no address given). Louis McNutt (no address given) is the lone Democrat on the ballot.
The top vote-getters will face off Tuesday, Nov. 4.
Earlier, Wright County District 1 Commissioner Tina Diedrick, Annandale, indicated she would also seek the seat, but her name does not appear on the ballot.
Senate District 29 includes the cities of Annandale, South Haven, Buffalo, Clearwater, Delano, Maple Lake, Monticello and Montrose. The district also includes the townships of Albion, Chatham, Corinna, Southside, Franklin, French Lake, Maple Lake, Marysville, Middleville and Silver Creek.
City of Annandale residents vote at Annandale City Hall. Township residents vote at their respective townships and polling places.
Anderson, 75, served many years in the Senate and prior to that in the Minnesota House starting in 1994. He died suddenly Monday, July 21.
