Members of the Annandale High School Class of 2015 will receive their diplomas this Friday, May 29, and the paths they plan to take after school range from studying engineering, meteorology and medicine to working in various trades or serving in the military.
The commencement ceremony for 105 seniors will take place at 7 p.m. in the high school gym.
Most members of the class will pursue some form of additional education, from trade, technical and cosmetology schools to traditional two- and four-year colleges and universities.
Five students plan on entering the workforce after graduation, and five will spend at least some time in the military.
Among those headed to college, the most popular destination is St. Cloud, with 16 students headed to St. Cloud Technical and Community College, and another 10 Cardinals headed to St. Cloud State University.
The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities is also a popular choice for school, with seven students headed that direction.
Popular areas of study include the sciences, with 15 students planning on studying fields ranging from biology, animals and the environment to electronics. Education is another significant direction for Annandale students, with 12 planning on future careers in school settings.
Another dozen students plan to pursue nursing or medical-related fields.
Eight students are pursuing education in engineering, six plan to study psychology and four will study languages.
While most continuing students are headed to public schools, 17 will attend private institutions.
