Malinda Anna Domeier Schmitz, 88, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died peacefully at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud on Sunday, June 13, 2010. A memorial mass was held at the Church of the Holy Spirit, St. Cloud, on June 18. Private interment was at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Benedict’s Senior Community, St. Cloud. Malinda was born on Aug. 1, 1921, in New Ulm to Arthur and Anna Domeier. She married James N. Schmitz on Nov. 28, 1945. She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Pat Manor (Steve) of Leland, N.C.; son, Jack (Jerri) of Absarokee, Mont.; and daughter, Mary Kay Ceasar (Bill) of Bloomington. She is also the loving grandmother of Brian Schmitz (Kerry) and great-grandmother to Hailey and Cameron Schmitz. Also survived by sister, Sister Anna Domeier of Wilmette, Ill.; brother, Kurt Domeier of New Ulm; step-sister, Mildren Klein of New Ulm; and step-brother, Richard Domeier of Truman. Malinda was an active member of Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters and Christian Mothers, an active member of Divine Providence Community Home Auxiliary. First and foremost she was a loving wife and mother, avid gardener, loved travel and enjoyed the beauty of nature and was always ready to reach out to anyone in need.
