Alice L. Wiegand, 81, of Swanton, Vt. and formerly of Annandale and St. Cloud, passed away Feb. 24, 2009, at her son’s home in Swanton, Vt., after a short battle with cancer. Memorial services were held in Swanton, Vt., at the home of her son Thursday, Feb. 26. Inurnment will be held in July in Annandale. In leiu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice. Alice is survived by her children: Patricia (Darrell) Holtz of Casa Grande, Ariz., Kenneth (Roxanne) of Meridian, Miss., Laura (Gordon) Muellner of St. Cloud, Jon (Elaine) of Motley, Elizabeth (George Shows) Casper of Yakima, Wash., and Gerald (Sheila) of Swanton, Vt.; 21 grandchildren, seven stepgrandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Veme (Esther) Fiedler of Rice and Ernst Fiedler of Phoenix, Ariz., and brother-in-law Robert Anderson of New Ulm; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Gerald on Oct. 22, 1974, her parents, brothers James and John and sister Ida Mae Anderson, stepson Richard Wiegand and step-grandson Sean Wiegand. Alice was bom July 31, 1927, to Fred and Nellie (Gehringer) Fiedler in Holyoke, Colo. She married Gerald Wiegand April 16, 1949, in Webster, S.D. Alice was employed by Frigidaire for 19 years. She enjoyed doing puzzle books, needlepoint and latch hooking.
