Dean Harold Anshus

Dean Harold Anshus, 77, of rural Becker passed away at his home on Friday, Aug. 18, 2006.  Private funeral services will be held. The family prefers memorials to the Snake River Church.  Dean is survived by his wife, Valarie; children, Wendy Klett of Jamestown, N.D., Mark Anshus of St. Paul, Jeffrey Anshus of Royalton, Nancy Nasi of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; brother, Lyman Anshus of Canby; and sisters, Lillian Chambers of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Georgia Anshus of Alameda, Calif.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Selma; and a sister Helen Anshus.  Dean was born on Feb. 3, 1929, to Henry and Selma (Anderson) Anshus on the same family farmstead on which he died. He grew up in the Becker area and attended and graduated from Becker High School in 1947. He then served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On Aug. 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Valarie Chapman in St. Paul. Dean loved farming and was employed as a pipe line welder for most of his life. He and his wife returned to the Becker area about 10 years ago, after living in the Annandale/Maple Lake area for 17 years and also several years in Little Falls.
