Roland ‘Butch’ Kallunki, 84, of Annandale died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at the Buffalo Hospital. Funeral services were Saturday, Aug. 28, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, French Lake Township, Wright County with Rev. Edward Groop officiating. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, French Lake Township, Wright County. He is survived by his wife, Dolores of Annandale; sons, daughters and their spouses, Jeff of Annandale, Cheryl (Arley) Hartsoch of Ray, N.D., Tim (Shirley) of Rathdrum, Idaho, Les (Carol) of Clearwater, Lori Kallunki of Grove, Okla., Jay (Karen) of Annandale, Rhonda (Russ) Christinsen of South Haven; brothers, sisters and their spouses, Hayde (Lloyd) Klemz of Annandale, John (Leela) of Arizona, Julia Ulku of Bloomington, and Donald (Gerda) of Arizona; grandchildren, Brent Hartsoch, Sara Peterson, Briita Cameron, Daniel and Erik Hartsoch, Garrett, Katie, Kasey, Owen, and Paige Kallunki; great grandchildren, Graham and Samuel Peterson. Brothers, Melvin, Arnold, Archie, and Marvin preceded him in death. Roland Quentin Kallunki was born Dec. 27, 1919, to Richard and Olga Kallunki in Albion Township, Wright County on the same farmstead he was currently living. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Dolores Hanson on June 29, 1946, at Annandale. He was a farmer and truck driver, member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, and life member of Maple Lake VFW Post #7664. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, saunas, and working on small engines. Pallbearers: Brian and Mitch Hedman, Bruce and Byron Hanson, John Dunderi, and Ron Raisanen. Honorary pallbearers: Roland’s grandchildren.
