Marian Ardis Maki

Marian Ardis Maki, 70, of Modesto, Calif., died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Emanuel Medical Center from complications of flu and pneumonia.  Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 9, at Emanuel Lutheran Church with a graveside service at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.  Survived by husband, Marvin Maki of Modesto, Calif.; children, Ardis Lionudakis of Modesto, Calif., Avis Gaffery of Merced, Calif., and Erik Maki of Modesto, Calif.; grandchildren, Amy Haskett, Gary Lionudakis, Thomas Gaffery, Laura Gaffery, Matthew Maki and Ashley Maki, and great-grandchild, William Haskett.  Marian was a native of Annandale and was born on Dec. 2, 1933. She was a graduate of Annandale High School’s class of 1951. She was a teacher’s aide at Fremont, Empire and Sylvan school districts of 20 years. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Newcombers Club and enjoyed the Giants, crossword puzzles, sewing and camping.
