Larry D. Schermer, age 66, of Silver Creek Township, died Friday, April 2, 2021 at his home with his family at his side. Graveside Memorial Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2021 at Lakeview Cemetery in Silver Creek Township near Maple Lake with Pastor Naomi Mahler officiating. Please dress appropriatly for the weather and feel free to bring a chair to sit in. The service will be livestreamed on the funeral home website. Larry Dean Schermer was born May 25, 1954 in St. Cloud to Tunis and Jennie (Hofman) Schermer. He grew up in in Silver Creek and attended school in Annandale. He was united in marriage to Darla Lappegaard at Silver Creek Community Church on June 9, 1973. Larry worked for many years at Foam Fabricators in Silver Creek. He enjoyed farming, going to auctions, hunting, fishing, and watching old Western movies. He loved bringing his family together at summer picnics or any other excuse he could find. His greatest joy, was the 47 years he spent with his wife and the time they shared with their children and grandchildren, “Sweetheart,” “Boo-Boo” and “Ed.” He will be greatly missed. Larry is survived by his wife, Darla; children Rick (Melissa) of Sanborn, ND and Sara (Chris) Bennett of Willmar, MN; 3 grandchildren, Jayla, Kenzie and Isaiah; brothers, Keith (Sally) Schermer and James (Marlys) Schermer; sister, Ora Mae Weidema; and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tunis and Jennie Schermer; sister, Kathy Schermer; brother, Norman Schermer; sister-in-law, Bernice Schermer; brother-in-law, Tom Weidema; and numerous other loved ones. The urn bearers will be Mark Schermer, Mike Schermer, Michelle Hartmann and Kayla Schermer. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
