Louis J. Nagel

Louis J. Nagel, age 69, of South Haven, went peacefully Home into the arms of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at his home on Bass Lake. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Tri-County Alliance Church in Clearwater with Pastor David Fogal officiating. Military Honors and a reception followed the service at the church. Visitation was from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Services will be livestreamed on the funeral home and church websites. Louis Joseph Nagel was born December 18, 1951, in Little Falls to Arnold and Lewine (Zimmerman) Nagel. He grew up in Little Falls, graduating from Little Falls High School with the Class of 1971. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1974; he then entered the U.S. Army Reserves, retiring in 2011. He worked for Dahlheimer Beverage in Monticello. He was a member of Tri-County Alliance Church in Clearwater, where he participated in Adult Sunday School, Bible Study and Men’s Group; he also cleaned the church for many years. On April 17, 1993, Louis was united in marriage to Therese Sporrong at their home on Bass Lake. Louis enjoyed golfing, dancing with his wife, watching and attending high school sports, and bible studies with his friend Ben. He is survived by his wife, Therese of South Haven; sons, Brendan Nagel of Muscatine, IA and Adam (Kate) Nagel of Circle Pines; step-child, Ann Barrett (Jivani Chandiramani) of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Adelynn, Elijah, Liam, Ella, Kamora and Miesha; brothers, Gordy (Jan), Tom (Nancy), Jim (Jan), and Joe (Sue); sisters, Therese (Charlie) Asche, and Julie (David) Eberhart; step-brother and step-sister, Donnie (Geri) Wheeler, and Karen Wheeler; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Lewine Nagel; stepmother, Mae Nagel; siblings, Laurel Roe, Arnie Nagel, Gordy Wheeler, Jean Ann Hayen and Joanne Nagel. The casket bearers are Brendan Nagel, Adam Nagel, Gordy Nagel, Scott Anderson, Ben Obinger, and Mike Mooney. Michele Newberger and Kim Norlien provided the music for the service. Military Honors were provided by the Minnesota National Guard Honor Guard and the Clearwater American Legion Post 323. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
