Mildred Lorraine Nelson was born on Feb. 25, 1923, in Cokato to Fred and Anna (Hurula) Nelson. She attended Temperance Corner Country School and graduated from Cokato High School in 1940. She then graduated from Minneapolis Business College in 1941. She lived and worked for a time in California; she then moved to North Minneapolis in order to care for her father. She was employed for many years as a legal secretary. Upon retiring, she moved to her home on French Lake, where she spent the majority of her retirement years. In 2017, she moved to her current home at Centennial Villa in Annandale. Millie lived life to the fullest. She traveled the world, but her home on French Lake was her favorite place to be. She loved hosting family, friends, and neighbors, first at her “egg carton” cabin and then at her new home on the lake. She loved family gatherings, vintage TV game shows, playing cribbage, doing crossword puzzles, and knitting. Many of her relatives and friends are using her hand made dish cloths and scrub pads. Millie enjoyed her last years at Centennial Villa. She touched uncountable lives during her 99 years. To all those who treated her so well, Millie would clap her hands and say, “Thank You, Thank You, THANK YOU!” She is survived by her sister, Shirley Tyni; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Anna Nelson; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mabel and Verlund Compton, Alice and Jacob Hoikka, Dorothy and Martin Lampi, and Glen Tyni; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Harriet Nelson, Harry and Ruth Nelson, Carl and Marilyn Nelson, and Donald and Bertha Nelson. Kelley Harrell will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale, www.dingmannfuneral.com.
