Thomas J. “Tom” Buckley of Annandale, born May 27, 1929, passed away on Feb. 9, 2021. He graduated from Willmar High School in 1946 and joined the U.S. Army the same year and served until 1948. Tom started working for The Great Northern Railroad as a locomotive engineer in 1949. He married Ruie Erickson of Willmar in 1955, and was married for 63 years. Tom and Ruie bought a home on Lake Sylvia in 1963. He was a very generous man who always gave and never complained. Many great summers were spent at the lake with lots of friends and family coming to visit where we had the best times of our lives. Tom retired in 1991 and spent many winters golfing in Arizona. He really liked his friends at the Annandale Library. They were all very nice to him. He will always be remembered as a quality guy. A kind and generous man who was loved, respected and looked up to by many. He was the greatest dad in the world, and we sure miss him and will forever. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Ruie and is survived by his son Bill and his daughter Lynn. A memorial celebration and open house picnic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, from noon to 5 p.m. at 14121 68th Street NW, Annandale, 55302. All are welcome.
