James M. Engle, age 78, of Outing, died Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Mother of Mercy Care Center in Albany. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 15, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial followed at Grace Southside Cemetery near Annandale. Pastor Alex Becker officiated. James Martin Engle was born March 26, 1945 in Minneapolis to Martin and Shirley (Kleppe) Engle. He grew up in Richfield, graduating from Richfield High School with the Class of 1963. He moved to Annandale and Mound while his kids were in school, and for the past 20 years has resided in Outing. Jim started out working at Ostrom Sporting Goods in Minneapolis and at the Burnsville Sport Center, before starting his own company, Westside Yamaha, in Navarre. He was then self-employed in construction doing remodel projects and as an antiques restorer and dealer. Jim had one of the most extensive collections of whale oil and kerosene early American lighting. He was a member of the Masonic Order. He enjoyed fly fishing, camping, and refinishing and restoring antiques. Jim will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his quick wit, and ability to tell a good story. Jim is survived by his daughter, Carrie (Bill) Sjoblom of St. Cloud; son, Tim (Michelle) Engle of Annandale; grandchildren, Nicole Engle, Bridget Engle, Rebecca Engle (Zach Bartsch), and Alexa (Hayden) Willner; sister, Judy Kerr; two nieces, one nephew, and many other relatives and friends.
