Grant Addison Jarrett

Grant Addison Jarrett, age 83, of Arizona, formerly of Annandale, Minnesota, was called to his eternal rest on Thursday, June 1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. There will be a burial at Fort Snelling on Friday, July 28, at 9 a.m. There will be a service of remembrance for Grant after the burial. This will be 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Maple Lake VFW. Grant was born on Sept. 18, 1939 to John and Lelia (Parton) Jarrett in Maybeury, West Virginia. He received his education at Coaldale, West Virginia and entered the service right after graduation. He served three years in the Army and was brought back to the states with an honorable discharge. He then moved to Minnesota where he received his higher education for machinist at Dunwoody Institute. He worked at FMC in the cities for 29 plus years. In 1964, he married Karen Lisle and they were blessed with three daughters, Lorri, Lelia, and Leann. After marrying they lived in Blaine for three years then they moved to the French Lake/Annandale area and resided there for 43 years. They retired to Arizona and lived there for 23 years. In the early years, Grant would spend his time working on cars, helping his friends with things they needed, working on the Fourth of July floats for Country Junction and riding in the parade. He would also go to JJ’s to help out with bartending and enjoying the music when the Country Junction played. For many years he would help with the annual Bouja event at Swapper’s in South Haven. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends cutting, splitting and stacking wood; this he did until October of 2022. As a family they would spend many weekends camping and he enjoyed helping out at the Swanson Lake (The Pit) with Donald. His favorite saying was “I wouldn’t pick on you if I didn’t love you.” He will be missed by his wife Karen of 58 years; his children Lorri Harris, Lelia Ramthun, and Leann (Alan) Swanson; his grandchildren Billi Jo (Brandon) Hodgeman, Richard Ramthun, Grant Swanson, Ryan Ramthun, Mikayla (Joshua) Newton, Brittany (Josh) Daddino, Johnathon (Willow) Harris, Hunter Swanson, and Shelby Harris; along with 10 great-grandchildren; Grant’s brother Dennis (Shirley) Jarrett; sister Shirley; mother-in-law Patty Russell; sisters-in-law Sharon (Don) Ahrens, Sue Plamann, and Brenda (John) Conzet; brothers-in-law Brad (Paula) Russell and Myron (Sue) Russell; along with other family members. Grant is preceded in death by his infant son; his parents; mother- and father-in-law; sisters Dorothy, Agnes, Gerry, and Ruth; brothers William and Lewis; brother-in-law Jim Russell; and sons-in-law Tim Harris and Jarrit Ramthun.
