Glorene Phyllis Gunnerson was born Aug. 20, 1937, on the family farm in French Lake Township, Wright County to William and Lillian (Johnson) Gunnerson. Glorene lived on the farm for most of her life. On Oct. 1, 1955, Glorene was united in marriage to Robert Saari. Together, they built their home. Robert preceded her in death in 1973. As fate would have it, Glorene crossed paths with DeWayne Hald, and as they say, “The rest is history.” They were married on April 25, 1981, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in French Lake. Together, they made their home in rural French Lake until July of 2006. DeWayne and Glorene then moved to St. Cloud. She attended beauty school in St. Cloud and retired as a beautician in 2000.
Since her younger years, Glorene enjoyed playing the piano, as well as the accordion, organ, and concertina. She grew up with horses on the farm and would brag about her shooting ability with Red Ryder BB gun. She and DeWayne traveled to all 50 states, Canada, and into Mexico. They spent many winters in Arizona.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, DeWayne of St. Cloud; children, Debra (Jack) Koerner of St. Cloud and Terry (Jana) Hald of Spicer; four grandchildren Jennifer (Mike), Joel (Brandon), Ty, Tory (Trenton); three great-grandchildren, Jayce, Max, and Tessa; four special nieces, Karen (Paul) Endres, Jane Blair (Dave), Debbie Vigren, and Dawn (Dino) Slusar; and many extended family and friends.
Glorene was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert; granddaughter, Teeyn; sister, Gloria (Earl) Vigren; and great-niece, Carla.
Jennifer Koerner Nagel, Joel Koerner, Kim Wille, Cade Wille, Dino Slusar, Justin Anderson, Mason Anderson, and Dylan Anderson served as casket bearers.
