Evelyn G. Maurer, age 90, of Annandale, died Saturday, April 27, 2024, at her home under the care of hospice.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 3, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fairhaven with Rev. David Buchs officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairhaven Cemetery. Visit-ation will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday at the church.
Evelyn Grace Maurer was born on Dec. 27, 1933, to William and Emma (Laabs) Markwardt on the family farm in Fairhaven Township. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at Concordia Lutheran Church. Evelyn attended grade school at District No. 31, before attending Kimball High School. She graduated in 1951 as valedictorian. On March 19, 1960, Evelyn was united in marriage to William C. Maurer at Concordia Lutheran Church. They were blessed with three children. Evelyn lovingly worked at making their house a home, while also helping on the farm.
Evelyn lived a life filled with faith, service, and love. Throughout her years, Evelyn found joy in sharing her talents with others. She loved to share her baked goods, sewing projects, and the bounty of her produce and flower gardens. Her love for creating with her hands not only brought her personal fulfillment but also touched the lives of those around her. In quieter times, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Evelyn and Bill liked to travel and spent many visits to Branson with friends.
Evelyn gave of her time. She was a member of the South Haven VFW and Firemen’s Auxiliary and served as the Fairhaven town clerk. Her devotion to her church and faith was unwavering. She found great joy in her role as a mother, grandmother, and eventually, a great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to their happiness and well-being.
She is survived by her son, Craig of Annandale; son-in-law, Steve Wills of Fairhaven; three grandchildren, Dustin Wills, Megan Piepkorn, and Monique (Mario) Vasquez; five great-grandchildren, Archer, Everley, Fiona, Truett, and Melina; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son David; daughter, Cindy Wills; great-grandson, William Piepkorn; and three brothers, George, Raymond, and Elmer.
Evelyn’s family will serve as urn bearers. Lynn Hoff will provide music for the service.
