Lorenchia Scott, age 96, of Big Lake, formerly of Annandale, died Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Cherrywood Advanced Living surrounded by the love of her family.

Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Denny Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Garden in Rochester.

Joyce Lorenchia Scott was born on September 19, 1928, in Hendricks, Minn., to Ingvald and S. Marcella (Hanson) Nygaard. As a young child and teenager, Lorenchia spent her formative years at Mayowood in Rochester, where she had the unique privilege of growing up alongside the Mayo family. She graduated as Homecoming Queen from Rochester High School, before pursuing a secretarial degree at Rochester Junior College. This paved the way for a fulfilling career as a medical secretary at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, followed by her role as media assistant at Bloomington Lincoln High School.

On July 1, 1950, Lorenchia married the love of her life, Irvin Scott, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester, a union that brought them two sons, Charles and Kevin. Together, they built a life centered around family, love, and faith. For over 25 years, Irvin and Lorenchia called Sugar Lake home, where she nurtured a garden that was as beautiful and vibrant as she was.

Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional endeavors, as she actively participated in her community as a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Annandale Improvement Club. Previously, as a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bloomington, she served on the church council and inspired countless young lives as a confirmation teacher. Lorenchia’s passions included gardening, sewing, and sharing many joyful moments through square dancing and family outings.

Lorenchia is survived by her sons Charles (Deb) Scott of Falcon Heights and Kevin (Stephanie) Scott of Annandale; 11 grandchildren Jessica, Stephanie, Andrea, Mike, Marisa, Tom, Jason, Rachel, Rebecca, Kelly, and Jesse; 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Irvin; parents Ingvald and S. Marcella; brother Wayne and sister-in-law Eleanor Nygaard.

Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
