Marlin Duane Holm, of South Haven, Minn., passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on May 27, 1932, in South Haven, Marlin lived a full and joyful life marked by love, laughter, and deep connections with family and friends.
Marlin was married to the love of his life, Theresa “Terry” Holm (Simons) on July 10, 1952, until her passing in 2002. Together, they raised four children: Ronald, Kathie, Gregory, and Julie, who were the pride and joy of his life.
Marlin resided with his wife Terry and four children in Minneapolis, Minn., until 1974 when he built a home in Ham Lake, Minn., and stayed until 1987.
He worked for a few years at Honeywell before dedicating over 30 years of service as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Minneapolis, retiring in 1987. Marlin was known for his strong work ethic, warm smile, and the genuine care he showed to everyone on his route.
Outside of work, Marlin was a man of many passions. He loved a good steak, playing horseshoes, camping, bonfires, playing cribbage, dancing, singing (known for Tip toe through the tulips) and enjoying good ol’ live country music. Marlin also had a huge passion for snowmobiling and belonged to snowmobile clubs, and it was a regular weekend thing in the winter and was good medicine for him. He had a gift for bringing people together and started an annual corn roast party that became a cherished tradition among many friends. Marlin was a huge Minnesota Vikings fan – no matter what! He also loved to watch the Twins. Minnesota boy through and through.
Marlin loved to toast a beer (or a shot of Fireball or tequila) and he found joy in making others smile and was deeply loved by all who knew him. His sense of humor, playful pranks, and infectious smile made him the heart of every gathering.
His legacy, laughter, and mischievous little laugh will live on in the memories of those he touched.
