Michael Joseph Yanish was born on May 21, 1940, in Watkins, Minn., the eldest of six boys to Herbert and Evelyn (Hahn) Yanish. He grew up in Annandale, where he graduated from high school. Mick proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was an active member of the Wat-Kim-Valley VFW POW MIA Honor Guard. He enjoyed participating in parades that honored those who served alongside him and those who came before.
On April 16, 1966, Mick married the love of his life, Susan Rice, and together they raised their three children in Annandale. Mick worked as a produce manager, working at Red Owl in Annandale, Marketplace Foods in Cokato, and SuperValu in the metro area.
Outside of work, Michael reveled in the beauty of the outdoors. He had a passion for hunting birds and squirrels and feeding the neighborhood chipmunks. He was a fisherman who loved to take leisurely walks and enjoyed cruising around town in his buggy. His garage served as a personal retreat where he and Sue could sit together and watch the world pass by. Additionally, he found solace in woodworking and yard work, embracing every opportunity to create and nurture.
Mick is survived by his spouse, Sue of Annandale; children, Bret of Kimball, Rick of Otsego, and Tammy (Tim Weber) of Annandale; grandchildren, Aaron, Brianna, Isabella, Paige, Destiny, Winnie, Skylar, and Sommar; great-grandchild, Vivyann; brothers, Gary (Bonnie) Yanish of Minneapolis, Steve (Laurel) Yanish of Sauk Rapids, and Charles (Linda) Yanish of Kimball; sisters-in-law, Lorna Yanish and Dianne Yanish; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Frank and Ron.
