Ruth E. Sellnow, 94, of Annandale, formerly of Staples, died Saturday, July 18, 2015, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 24, at the Annandale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Felska officiating. Burial was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Ruth is survived by her children, Gerald (Sandy) of Citrus Heights, Calif., Sandie (Lee) Bollenbacher of Hattieville, Ark., Janell (Craig) Dezell of Annandale, and Karen Barron of Brainerd; daughter-in-law, Judi of St. Louis Park, 15 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother, Byron "Bud" (Betty) Haskin of Staples; sister-in-law, June Haskin of Winthrop; and nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant sons, son Ron and brother, LeRoy Haskin.
Ruth Eva Sellnow was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Hill City to James and Hilma (Anderson) Haskin. As a young girl she moved with her family to the Staples area. She attended and graduated from Staples with the Class of 1940.
On Aug. 22, 1940, she was united in marriage to Edward Carl Sellnow. They continued to make their home in Staples and raise their family. Following Ed’s death, Ruth moved to Annandale to be closer to family. Ruth was a member of the Annandale United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed playing cards, spending time in her beautiful flower gardens, and bird watching. She also enjoyed knitting and making quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing was treasured more to Ruth than the time she was able to spend with her family.
