Richard A. Chapman

Richard Arthur "Dick" Chapman, 87, of Shoreview passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan 17, at St. John the Baptist 835 Second Ave. NW, New Brighton. Visitation will be one hour prior to service with luncheon following. Memorials can be given to Cretin-Derham Hall.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Grace Chapman (Cantwell), their four children; Kathy, Mary Kotrba (Jack), Tom (Liz Basgen), and Betty Moren (Bill), five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecilia LaBossiere and Arthur Chapman, brother Jack and unborn son Steven.

Richard was born June 17, 1927. He lived in St. Paul for most of his life and also enjoyed many years living "at the lake" in Annandale.

Dick graduated from Cretin High School in 1945, served in the United States Navy and received degrees from St. Thomas College and William Mitchell Law.

In 1949 he was hired by 3M Company as a computer systems designer and spent his entire career there. Among his many interests, tennis was a lifelong passion and he loved the years he tutored grade school math at St. Luke’s in St. Paul.
