For What It’s Worth

■ The new McDonald’s has been built at an amazing pace, just like owners Pete and Ros Kormanik said it would. The Kormaniks operate two other McDonald’s – Litchfield and Hutchinson. They will be a welcome addition to our business community.

The new store is set to open at 5 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25. If you’re an early riser, you may want to be one of the first 50 customers. Each will win a Big Mac for a week for a year.

For more on McDonald’s and the Schmidty’s development see the story in this Advocate and the ad on page 12A.

■ Halloween is just a week from Wednesday, and the chamber is once again hosting Trick-or-Treating from 3 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 31. See page 11A for a list of all the businesses taking part in the Trick-or-Treating and plan on coming into Annandale next Wednesday.

Before Wednesday, on Saturday night, Oct. 27, Minnesota Pioneer Park is planning its Halloween activity. They always do a fantastic job, and I miss the days when our kids were young and we took them there. See the story in this issue for details.

■ This week the Advocate features area county candidates in our election coverage, and next week we will feature the city and school board races as well as a wrap-up of overall election coverage.

■ As of this writing, no one has found the Lions medallion. The second clue appears in this Advocate. The hunt is part of the Lions 50th anniversary celebration. Check it out on page 5A.

■ This Advocate contains our annual Fall-Winter Guide. It represents why this is such a nice area to visit and to reside. Pull it out and make use of it as we approach winter in the Heart of the Lakes.
