The saying "It is insanity to keep doing the same thing and expect different results" rings true, especially today. For the last three years we have been fighting the Muslim extremists in Iraq and Afghanistan and the attacks on our brave soldiers and Iraqi civilians have increased. The promise that the elected Iraqi government would help to control the situation has not happened. A recent poll of the Iraqi citizens indicated that 61 percent believe that attacks against our troops are justified and 78 percent believe that their situation is becoming worse. The NIA report from last April stated that the jihadists in both Iraq and Afghanistan are increasing in numbers. By merely being present in their countries, we are creating more Islamic extremists. At this time we are stuck in Iraq without a workable exit strategy. Meanwhile, it is costing us an estimated $2 billion a week to sustain this war. How long should we remain in Iraq? Are we really safer here at home than before we invaded Iraq? The White House continues to repeat the phrase "stay the course" and continues to go down the same path expecting different results. We cannot make a change in the White House at this time, but we can change the makeup of the Congress. Vote for that change on Nov. 7.
