Offering older adults companionship

The participants at the Adult Day Center have been eagerly helping the staff prepare for our upcoming rummage and bake sale. They have been going through all the items brought in as donations to be sold and they have been helping mark the prices on all these items. They also have been busy baking items for the sale. The halls at Centennial Villa are being filled with wondrous smells. We will be having our sale Thursday and Friday, April 29 and 30. The participants always enjoy the community coming through our doors and looking at all the treasures.  Four years ago on May 3, we opened our doors to take in our first participants. That day was very exciting as we were embarking on a new concept for the Annandale area. It has been a delight ever since. Our goal at the Adult Day Center is to help adults, currently living at home, stay there as long as possible. We offer older adults in the greater Annandale area activities, outings and companionship. We provide services and social stimulation for seniors who often cannot be left alone safely. At the Adult Day Center, our participants may spend time with peers, play games, enjoy a nutritious meal, watch a movie, take a stroll, or enjoy other planned activities, all within a safe, secure environment. We have a wonderful caring staff that makes everyone feel part of a larger family. Please feel free to stop in and see us for more information. We are located in the Centennial Villa Assisted Living building at 600 Park Street E.  This year it is our plan to add a sidewalk off our porch area to give the participants another safe access to our courtyard and to also serve as another emergency exit. We hope to have several fundraisers to help with our efforts. If you would like to volunteer or donate to our cause, we would love to hear from you. You may contact us at 274-1334. Any help you could give us would be greatly appreciated.
