This issue of the Advocate is always a fun one, and one of our best of the year. Thanks for reading. The Fourth of July Section has a lot of great information and stories in it. You’ll want to check out the story on Air Force veteran Mike Bray and his saddles, among the other articles.
The Fourth of July in Annandale is a lot of things – family gatherings, the parade, the carnival and much more. I am always impressed by our Miss Annandale candidates, and again this year 13 young women have stepped forward to take the challenge of representing our community for the next year. Good luck to all of the candidates! They are featured on pages 12 and 13 of the Fourth of July section.
For those of you who remember such things, it’s been five years since the holiday last fell on a Monday, 2011. While you’d rather see July 4 fall on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it’s always nice when it falls around a weekend. It will be up to five days of fun this "weekend."
For those of us of a certain age, the Annandale Fourth brings back a flood great memories, especially when our kids were young, and they couldn’t wait to go to the carnival.
Thanks to all the businesses who took part in the Fourth of July section and in this paper. It illustrates how many excellent businesses we have, and that you can get just about any thing you need locally.
As always, be careful and be safe, and be extra cautious with all the people in town and the increased traffic.
