Save injury, save lives; buckle up

Safe Communities of Wright County is proud to partner with our local law enforcement in the upcoming Click It or Ticket campaign running from Monday, May 23 through Sunday, June 5. It is important for motorists to know to buckle up all the time, every day, every ride. And here’s why:

n A seat belt is your best defense in a vehicle, especially on Minnesota roads plagued with distracted, speeding and impaired drivers. You may think you are a great driver – we all do – but what about the driver behind you, next to you, or in the oncoming traffic lane?

n In a crash, odds are six times greater for injury if a motorist is not buckled up. Seat belts restrain motorists in the vehicle’s designed protective space, giving them room to live in the event of a crash. The tragedies that occur as a result of unbelted motorists are simply preventable. These deaths and injuries can be avoided.

More often than not, we are seeing motorists buckling up, but we need your help. Join us in helping save lives on Minnesota roads by deciding not to start your vehicle until everyone is buckled up. Parents, set good examples for your children by always wearing your seat belt and remember, while you may be a safe driver, there’s always someone making poor choices behind the wheel. Your seat belt is the first line of defense in a crash and can save your life.

Help us drive Wright County and all of Minnesota toward zero deaths.
