Pacesetter youth classic signup
The Pacesetter Youth Basketball Winter Classic for grades 4-8 has been scheduled at the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph on Saturday-Sunday, March 2-3.
All Minnesota teams are being invited. Girls in grades 5 and 7 and boys in grades 4, 6 and 8 will play Saturday, March 2. Girls in grades 4, 6, and 8, and boys in grades 5 and 7 will play Sunday, March 3.
Teams will play three to four games in one day. Each group will be limited to 16 teams. Further information and registration are available at www.pacesettersports.net.
‘Finishing School’ continue
FungusAmongus Players is kicking off its second season with the comedy "Finishing School," directed by Linda Metcalf. The cast features both familiar and new faces: Al is Jon Benson; Wizzer is Ron Hungerford; PA Voice is Elisabeth Nelson; Shirley 2 is Lisa Kotila; and Minnie is Katrina Vaara.
"Finishing School," by Elaine Liner, is a comedy about the friendship between Wizzer, the oldest resident of an assisted-living facility, and Al, a newcomer adjusting to life at what may be his final address. The friends meet daily to read the obits, or, as they call them, the senior citizens’ sports page. Their lives get more interesting when they meet mother and daughter, Shirley and Minnie.
Performances began Friday, Oct. 12. Other dates include S Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. An afternoon show is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Dassel History Center and Ergot Museum. Tickets are on sale now at www.fungusamongusplayers.org.
FungusAmongus season tickets are also available now. A season ticket package includes four tickets that can be used for any of the four 2018-19 shows.
Stearns Museum offers free entry
Explore and immerse yourself in history for free during Zip Code Saturdays at the Stearns History Museum.
Use your imagination in the Children’s Room. Discover Stearns County’s role during World War I. Or find a long-lost family member in the Research Center. Area residents can visit the museum for free on selected Zip Code Saturdays throughout the 2018-19 school year. Just show museum staff your current ID with the corresponding zip code for that selected Saturday.

‘Company’ continues this weekend
The curtain goes up this week for Buffalo Community Theater’s fall production, and although they’ll be appearing in Buffalo, the majority of the cast comes from cities all over the area.
"Company" features a brilliantly brisk and energetic score containing many of Stephen Sondheim’s best known songs including: You Could Drive a Person Crazy, The Ladies Who Lunch, and Being Alive!
Performances will take place at Discovery Auditorium in Buffalo, Friday to Sunday, Oct. 19 to 21. All seating is reserved, and advanced tickets are available online from the BCT website, www.bctmn.org. They play is recommended for those 13 and above.
