Annandale is sponsoring a special American Red Cross bloodmobile. It will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Classic Rides and Rods. In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, the Red Cross has had to cancel over 300 blood drives out on the East Coast. That means that they will not have thousands of needed units of blood.
You can donate whole blood every 56 days, so, if you gave on or before Sept. 20, are at least 16 years of age (with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health you are eligible to donate. Each time you donate you are helping up to three people. The whole blood can be divided into three parts, so that patients can get the particular components that they need.
