Bay Club Building Removed

The former Bay Club restaurant building at Bob’s Bay on Clearwater Lake was demolished last week. Information from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, which owns the property, about future plans for the land was not available when this edition of the Advocate went to press, though an expansion of the parking lot for the nearby boat landing has previously been discussed as an option. The DNR finished purchasing the vacant building at the end of 2014, winning out in an effort to obtain the property over Clearwater Lake cabin owners Mike and Mark Lease of Litchfield, who wanted to open a restaurant. The DNR purchased the property for $435,000, and said benefits of its ownership would include better parking, more room for invasive species protection, and opportunities to help improve water quality.
