The Annandale School Board was scheduled to meet Monday, May 23, for its regular monthly meeting at the Annandale Elementary School Community Room. This meeting was scheduled to take place after the Advocate’s deadline. Details of this meeting will be featured in the Wednesday, June 1, Advocate.
The school board was expected to discuss or take action on the following topics at the meeting:
■ Community Education Director Tiffany Grube will be presenting recommended updates to the school district’s policy governing the use of school district facilities by outside groups. Administration is concerned that due to increased use of district facilities, the general fund and school district personnel may be impacted.
"Utility and labor costs associated with the use of our buildings need to be met by the users," said Superintedent Steve Niklaus.
Grube was expected to present recommended changes to the current policy and pricing at the Monday, May 23, meeting.
This is a first reading of the proposed changes and administration is expected to ask for approval at the June 27 meeting.
■ The school board is expected to recognize the following student acheivement: Peter Loiacono, his photograph was selected as "Best of Show" at the Section 5A Art Festival. His work was displayed at the State Art Exhibition at the Perpich Center for the Arts on May 21.
■ AHS Business Professionals of America students who placed at State competition and advanced to the Nationals in May. These included Jenifer Weyer, Kara Condon, Zechariah Everett, Morgan Diers, Jacob Johnson and Zach Wrobbel.
■ Consider approval of recommended teaching contracts for 2016-17.
■ Consider approval of a resolution to terminate the contract of a probationary teacher.
■ Hear an update on the district’s pay equity study, being conducted this spring.
