John F. van Sytzama, age 82, of Maple Lake, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly at home on Sugar Lake on Monday, Jan.17, 2022. At John’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. John was born Sept. 25, 1939 in Platteville, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Colleen C. Stofferahn in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Aug. 19, 1967. He worked for Sta-Rite Industries/Pentair for 35 years until his retirement. He spent his time watching his grandchildren at their sporting activities, reading, doing puzzles and bird watching. He was best known for his quick wit and sarcastic one-liners. John is survived by his wife, Colleen; children, Brad van Sytzama and significant other Lori Steffen, Toni (Steve) Loch, Kris van Sytzama and significant other Cliff Wurm, and Nicole (Justin) Shoberg; grandchildren, Austin and Carson van Sytzama, Jenna and Bailey Loch, Cody Iacono and Tristan, Tyson, Jordyn Shoberg.
